Healthy Carrot Cake


Ingredients:
Wheat flour
2 Cups
Grated Carrot
1 Cup
Sugar
1 Cup
Oil
½ cup
Egg
1
Milk
½ cup
Cinnamon powder
1 tsp
Powdered cloves
1 tsp
Baking powder
1 tsp

Method: 
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degree F.
  • Beat egg, oil and sugar in a bowl.
  • Add the grated carrots, baking powder, cinnamon and clove powder into the bowl and Mix well.
  • Add the flour and milk alternatively into the bowl and beat well.
  • Pour the cake batter into a greased tin and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • let the cake cool completely in a wire rack and before serving.

Spiced Coffee



Ingredients Required
Milk
1 cup
Water
1 cups
Sugar / Jaggery
As per taste
Dried ginger powder
1/2 tsp
Cardamom
3 pods
Cinnamon
2 stick
cloves
4 Whole 
Freshly ground coffee
5 tsp
* Serves 2

Procedure:

Step 1.     Boil water in a pan and add the dried ginger powder, cardamom, cinnamon sticks and cloves. Boil for 5 minutes
Step 2.     To the boiling mixture, add the freshly ground coffee and let it boil for another 5 minutes.
Step 3.     Pour the milk into the boiling mixture.
Step 4.     When the milk comes to boil, turn off the heat.
Step 5.     Strain using a sieve and serve hot.


Experiment Result: 
Wonderful cup of coffee for a cold winter's day!

Easy Rasam


Ingredients Required
Tamarind
Lemon Sized
Tomato
2
Garlic
5 Cloves
Black Pepper Corns
2 tsp
Cumin seeds
1 tsp
Red Chilli Powder
1 tsp
Coriander powder
1 tsp
Turmeric Powder
½ tsp
Cooked yellow pigeon peas / toor dal
½ cup
Mustard seed
1 tsp
Dry red chillies
2
Asafoetida
¼ tsp
Oil
3 tsp
* Serves 3


Procedure:

Step 0.     ~Soak the tamarind in a cup of water and set aside for 15-20 minutes and extract the juice.
                 ~Finely chop tomatoes.
                 ~Coarsely crush the garlic, pepper corns and cumin seeds

Step 1.     Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle. Add the dry red chillies and asafoetida. 
Step 2.     Add the coarsely ground garlic, pepper corns and cumin seeds mixture to the pan and fry for a minute.
Step 3.     Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes are mushy.
Step 4.     After the tomatoes are cooked, add the red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt. Cook for a minute.
Step 5.     Add the tamarind extract into the pan along with 2 cups of water and the cooked toor dal.
Step 5.     Turn off the heat when the rasam starts to froth on the top.


Experiment Result: 
Simple and easy rasam!

Enjoy the rasam as a soup or serve with hot rice!

Masala Chai (Indian Tea)



Ingredients Required
Milk
1 cup
Water
2 cups
Sugar
As per taste
Ginger
1 inch
Cardamom
3 pods
Cinnamon
1 inch stick
cloves
3
Loose Tea leaves
3 tsp
* Serves 3

Procedure:
Step 1.     Coarsely grind ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves in a mortar and Pestle.
Step 2.     Boil water in a pan and add the above powdered mixture. 
Step 3.     To the boiling spice mixture, add the tea leaves and let it boil for 5 minutes.
Step 4.     Pour the milk into the boiling mixture.
Step 5.     When the milk comes to boil, turn off the heat.
Step 6.     Strain the tea using a sieve and serve hot.


Experiment Result: 
Cup full of taste and health!

Coffee Flavoured Cake



Ingredients Required
self raising flour
2 cups
Sugar
1 cup
Milk
1 cup
Butter / Oil
½ cup
Egg
1
Instant coffee powder
3 tsp
Baking powder
1 tsp
Vanilla essence
1 tsp

Procedure:
Step 1.     Sift together the self raising flour, coffee powder and baking powder. 
Step 2.     In a large bowl, beat together the butter, sugar, vanilla essence and the egg. 
Step 3.     Add the flour mixture and milk alternatively into the bowl and beat well.  
Step 4.     Pour the cake batter into a greased tin and bake at 350 degree F for 30 minutes.

Experiment Result: 
Simple yet tasty Coffee cake!
